NTI has 200+ job openings to fill now.

We’re a national non-profit organization hiring Americans with disabilities for 200+ part-time work-from-home jobs as call center agents. We’ve been training and placing people for over 10 years.

Here are the answers to two questions you're probably already asking:

We match people with disabilities who want to work with jobs that fit their requirements. Our agents work for organizations you’ve heard of, like 1-800-Flowers.com, AAA, Alamo car rental, Home Shopping Network, Ticketmaster, and the Internal Revenue Service. We receive funding from the federal government, state vocational rehabilitation agencies, and private foundations.

What work would I be doing? And how much does it pay?

These agents will help callers solve problems with their cellular phone bills, set up email accounts, and surf the Web from their cell phones, or they may provide technical support for high-speed cable Internet connections.

They’ll earn an average of $9.40 per hour and work 15 to 35 hours per week.

We’ve designed these jobs so that you can work part-time entirely from your home. We’ll provide you with the specialized computer equipment you need. We’ll also provide remote training in a “virtual classroom,” so that you can attend classes without leaving home.

The only equipment you have to provide is a monitor (screen), a mouse, and a keyboard set up in a quiet room where you can work with no distractions or noise for blocks of four hours at a time. You must also have a high-speed connection to the Internet.

You can read the complete job description and the FAQ about NTI here on our site. NTI will also work with you to complete the process of applying and qualifying for these jobs.

If you think you can do this job, you probably can.

Just ask yourself if you can

Here’s what we require..

Computer literacy. Most people we place have never worked as a call center agent, but they’re all “computer literate”: comfortable using the Internet to send and receive email, search for information on the Web, and shop online. They also type at least 20 words per minute.

Good personality fit. One company described our agents as “flat-out nice.” They enjoy helping others, whether solving billing problems, locating stores, or figuring out which IRS tax forms callers need. They remain calm and handle callers with empathy and diplomacy when the occasional angry or frustrated customer is abrasive, demanding, or slow.

Clear speaking voice. Agents must speak English clearly and be understood easily. Their “voice quality” must be average or above: not too fast or slow, too loud or soft, nasal, or heavily accented.

High-speed Internet connection. You must be able to obtain high-speed DSL or cable Internet access in your home. Satellite or dial-up access is not sufficient.

How to apply

If you think you qualify and this work sounds appealing, follow the directions at Five Steps to a Call Center Agent Job. You’ll fill out an application and take two tests to measure your familiarity with computers and cell phones. If you qualify, we’ll schedule you for an interview.

We’re trying to fill these positions NOW, so please submit your application and take the tests as soon as possible.

If the job doesn’t make sense for you, then we’re sorry that we won’t be hearing from you. Let us assure you that your decision to turn this opportunity down will not affect in any way any Social Security Administration benefits you may be receiving.

Some thoughts before you go…

You can work and stay on SSA benefits. Most NTI agents receive SSDI, SSI, or both, and they continue to receive their benefit while they work for NTI. As long as your work earnings remain below the level of Substantial Gainful Activity, currently $860 per month, SSA cannot terminate your benefits because of your work earnings. (In fact, the SSA permits many people to earn more than $860 per month and stay on benefits. Read how in the SSA’s Red Book: A Guide to Work Incentives, online at www.socialsecurity.gov/redbook. Or call 1-800-772-1213 toll free to have them mail you a free copy.)

Will this job fit into your life? If you meet the qualifications listed above, you must decide if this job would fit into your life. Most of our agents choose not to work full-time because they have disability-related stamina or stress issues. If they receive SSDI benefits, they’re also mindful of the $860 monthly earnings limit. Generally, they sign up for 4-hour shifts, 5 days a week.

However, you know your own situation best. You must decide if you can reliably show up for work when you are scheduled. Since all of our agents have significant disabilities, occasionally they undergo medical procedures or experience medical complications requiring a leave of absence. But, by and large, we can count on them to show up for their scheduled shifts.

Support from your State. We probably work closely with the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agency in your state. If we schedule you for training, we’ll help you enroll as a VR consumer if you’re not enrolled already. Your VR Counselor may be able to help you buy additional computer equipment or obtain other types of support to help you get set up for your new job.

Prior convictions. As part of the application process, we require that you pass a criminal background check. This will eliminate many, but not all, applicants with felony convictions. However, we will evaluate all mitigating circumstances regarding convictions on a case-by-case basis.
