Introduction

Many federal and state services are available to persons with disabilities, though some of these have income eligibility requirements. In the first portion of the lesson, we will present standard Internet search techniques, and then demonstrate how we looked up eligibility information for one of these services: special transportation services in Brevard County , Florida . Then, you will have the opportunity to conduct your own search for transportation services in your community, and submit the information online.

In the second part of this lesson we will summarize four additional services (Food stamps, lifeline phone, energy assistance, Social Security income support), and give you Internet sites from which you may conduct further research. You'll seek and find answers to questions designed to familiarize you with those sites and lead you to a determination of your eligibility. Then you will be asked to submit your answers to demonstrate the completion of your research.
