Lesson 2: My Rights as a Vocational Rehab Client

Basis of Eligibility

Eligibility for service is based on the presence of physical or mental impairment and the goal of employment. Impairment must constitute a substantial impediment to employment. The employment outcome must be thought to benefit from vocational rehabilitation. Finally, the individual must require vocational rehabilitation to prepare for, get, keep, or regain employment.

Persons with disabilities in Florida may begin to be considered by submitting a simple one-page form. The agency will conduct an assessment and is required to make the determination within 60 days. Persons already receiving Social Security Disability income or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible.
