MJ Willard

Executive Director

MJ Willard is the Executive Director of NTI, which she founded in 1995. Convinced that people with severe physical disabilities would welcome the chance to work from home, she pioneered research into placing this population into jobs as virtual call center agents. She has helped NTI win telework grants from the US Department of Rehabilitation Services, the Department of Labor, and the Mott, Robert Wood Johnston, Fidelity and AT&T Foundations. MJ telecommutes to NTI's Boston headquarters from her home in California, and travels often to Washington DC to meet with potential government clients. She received her doctorate in Behavioral Psychology from Boston University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Tufts New England School of Medicine.

Alan W. Hubbard

Chief Operating Officer

Alan W. Hubbard is NTI’s Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operations at the Boston headquarters and of its many remote employees. His goal is to provide every job seeker who registers for NTI’s services the tools they need to succeed in the workplace, whether that is their home, shop, or office. Alan lives on four acres of land in New Hampshire with his dog and three cats, though that number fluctuates. He earned his BS in Computer Information Systems and his MBA from Bentley University.

Rik Moore

Senior Director of Finance and Administration

Rik Moore, Financial Affairs

With NTI since 2004, Rik Moore oversees the Finance/Accounting, Human Resources, and IT operations. He believes accurate and courteous work is why his department succeeds; his team developed “Ten Commandments of Customer Service” to interact with candidates and employers. In 2015 Rik won the "Key to NTI’s Success" award for helping its Employment Networks survive and grow within Social Security’s Ticket to Work program.  He’s an avid soccer and hockey fan who enjoys sporting events with his family. He holds a BA in Communications from Allegheny College and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.

Michelle Simone

Director of Client Services

Michelle Simone, Director of Client Services

Michelle Simone makes sure that NTI@Home-trained agents meet--and surpass--the staffing expectations of its employer partners. She believes the key to satisfied clients is building strong relationships, creating the trust that lets both client and NTI tackle any scenario that comes up. Michelle and her staff are major reasons NTI attracts new business based on good word-of-mouth, since long-term clients renew their contracts year after year. When she isn’t studying for her PMP certification, she enjoys practicing her hobbies of crafting and card making.

John Bertram

Director of Call Center Operations

John Bertram, Call Center Operations

John Bertram has spent 20 years helping people with disabilities find work. He started in Recruiting with NTI@Home, then branched out in 2012 to manage NTI’s newest division, LandAjob. John takes pride in knowing thousands of people have found work through NTI’s programs and that, through LandAjob alone, beneficiaries with jobs have received almost $750,000 in work-related expense reimbursements that help them keep working. He has an Associate’s Degree as well as American Management Association (AMA) and Communication certificates.

Mission & History

Founded in 1995, NTI@Home serves people with disabilities who prefer or require home-based work. We've found that commercial and government call centers--where customer service agents help callers via computer and telephone--are our best sources for work-at-home jobs. In 2017 we trained and helped place almost 600 candidates in the call centers of our employer partners, including Amazon, Sykes, the IRS, Meijer stores, John Hancock, VForce/AAA, and others.

In 2012 we started the LandAjob division to help people with disabilities who are already employed (at any job), or who hope to be working soon. Our staff helps employed beneficiaries receive reimbursements to cover eligible work expenses that help them remain on the job. In 2017, participants received cash payments ranging from $70/year to $3500/year.  LandAjob also advises would-be workers how to find jobs, and educates employers why and how to tap this under-utilized workforce.
